If You Lay Down with Dogs...

Greetings Team,

Have you ever heard the Phrase, "If you lay down with dogs you'll come up with fleas"? That phrase is our topic of conversation today Team. My interpretation of the phrase is simply, whomever you associtate with, you tend to emmulate. So my encouragement for you this week Team is to choose wisely the "dogs you lay with".

Teenagers are often warned to "watch the crowd they hang out with." As impressionable youth, choosing friends that provide negative peer pressure can often lead to bad actions. As adults, however; that rule still applies. If we associate with the negative people of the world, it can skew our view point. Do you know someone who ALWAYS finds the WORST in any situation? Do you know them VERY personally? :) My point is there are so many people who almost go out of there way to find out what's WRONG in a given situation. This type of attitude can be contagious in a very bad way. These are the same people who ALWAYS bitch and moan. The economy sucks. The President is terrible. Gas prices are too high. Why spend so much time and ENERGY on NEGATIVITY??

Now let's flip that. Do you know anyone that know matter what finds a SILVER LINING? They do their best when given a challenge or heart ache to turn a negative into a POSITIVE. THESE are the people you want to associate with. And if you do have a positive outlook, it is KEY to ONLY interact with other like minded individuals. Just as negative energy is contagious, so is positive energy. When you aren't feeling at your best, you can rely on the positve energy of the people around you to help get you back on track.

So you see gang, the TEAM you chose to surround yourself with is so important to becoming and staying successul and being happy. No GM of a athletic organization purposely goes out to draft players that they feel are not winners at heart. And once they find they are not, they are quickly dismissed. That's the only way to win. The most successful teams are exactly that... a TEAM. They rely on each other for strength. So, choose your team with the same discretion. Chose goal oriented, postive people to be on your Team.

Every day at our Gym we create that type of environment for OUR TEAM. Make sure that when you are off the mats, you have the same quality of players on your roster. If they aren't, they need to be dismissed.

Hope you got some benefit from this today Team!

ALL THE BEST!

COACH
