Greetings Team,
I wanted to take a few moments today Team, to talk to you about the idea of never giving up. Sounds simple, I know...but please endulge me...I think it may just help you out. :)
As some of you may know, I am a big Tony Robbins fan. I bring this up with no intention of swaying your opinion on his material, but to simply state that the idea I am speaking about today, I first heard through his material. Let me share....
Infants wiggle around on their bellies for a long time. They keep trying to get to their knees, but fail. Numerous times...daily. And one day, sure enough, the get up on those knees. They begin to slide themselves along the floor. Victory!
Then as that infant becomes more a toddler, they begin to explore new horizons...literally. Crawling is no longer good enough. They grab at legdes, couches, and coffee stands. Anything to hoist themselves up with. Again, they keep failing. Miserably. Numerous times, daily. And yet again, they finally do it!
Yet somehow, that's not good enough, either. They feel the need to try to walk. So they give it shot. Timid at first to be sure, but they give it their best effort. They stumlbe, fall, and cry. They try again. Sometimes they get a few steps. Sometimes none at all. It doesn't deter them, howerver. They are relentless with their effort to master this amazing skill called walking. And bam! They get it...and never look back.
At what point would any of us as parents walk over to our child and say, "Hey! Maybe you should just give up. I just don't think this walking thing is for you"? We wouldn't, would we? We want them to succeed. And we know if they just keep at it, we KNOW they will get it. Encouraging them all the way. Picking them up each and everytime they fall. We tell them "good job", and "better luck next time." And that my friends is why our children walk. They never give up. And we help them along the way.
So I ask you Team, do you have this level of tenacity? SURE YOU DO! You walk don't you??! So my encouragement for you this week Team is to remind yourself that if you simply just DON'T GIVE UP, you WILL get what you're after. I KNOW you will.
Hope you got some benefit from this today Team!
ALL THE BEST!
COACH
