Simple, but Not Easy

Greetings Team,

Today Team, I wanted to talk to you about a concept I really enjoy. This concept, I believe, can help us stay motivated while avoiding frustration. The idea can be referred to as Simple, but not Easy.

You can apply this idea to so many scenarios. Let's start on the Mat. All too often in Jiu Jitsu, we have trouble executing a techinque. The challenge is, we may not know why it is not working. We know we are missing a key detail, but we don't know where to look. The best thing to do when this happens is ask your Instructor for assistance. Now here's where it gets "funny". When we ask our Instructor about what we are doing wrong, the answer quite often is "simple"! We normally respond by saying things like, "Wow, that is such common sense. Why couldn't I think of that!" Well, my friends, that's because it IS simple...just NOT easy.

This rings true in most things, doesn't it? Take diet for example. What to eat is simple. We know not to eat junk. We know to eat healthy friuts and vegetables, etc. How many of us do it? Why? Well, it's just not EASY.

Being disciplined is very tough. But, when we chose to exercise discipline, we normally get execellent results. In our a training, our fitness, and otherwise. So please remember Team, anything worth accomplishis is Simple, but rarely is it Easy. When you are having challenges, focus on the fact you need to keep excercising the discipline necessary to achieve your goals. It's not an easy road, so when you hit speed bumps and road blocks, try not to get frustrated. Frustration leads us to giving up on a worthwhile goal. That's not the trait of a Champion. Perserverance is!

I hope you got some benefit from this today!

ALL THE BEST!

COACH
